The deadline for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) mandate to report surgical site infections (SSI) to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) is rapidly approaching. Jordan will review the basics of the SSI module in NHSN's Patient Safety Component. This review will include each aspect of the SSI reporting process as well as NHSN's transition to using Standardized Infection Ratios (SIR).
