Get Your Hands Dirty Down at Willows Edge Farm
The public is being pushed farther and farther from their heritage of family farms and yet have a burning desire to "go home again". Here is one small farm's solution to the growing problem.


BOTHELL, WA, June 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Local farmers, Scott & Corinne Logan, have opened up their suburban Willows Edge Farm to let the public in and get their hands dirty with a special once a month, hands-on tour. Guests will get the opportunity to help feed the horses, chickens or pigs or collect some eggs. They can also help move the chicken tractors or muck out some stalls. Pull some weeks, toss a bale of hay? Why not!
"We keep getting calls and emails from people desperately wanting that hands-on time" says farmer Scott. "People want to get back and have a little experience of what it used to be like. We're showing them our morning on a small, local farm and a sampling of how our food used to be raised." Not that the Logan's don't use modern conveniences on their farm. They laugh and say they do have running water and a small tractor to help with the chores. Corinne Logan adds in, "Folks come out here and you can almost see the stress of their daily lives melt away. They smile and talk with people they've never met before and share with each other. It's really encouraging for us."
