Internationally Renowned Writer and Civil Rights Activist Dr. Maya Angelou Offers Words of Wisdom through PeaceTags
PeaceTags Releases an Inspiring Maya Angelou Pendant That Supports Veterans and Peacemaking Charities. Necklaces are available at select partners across the country, as well as at www.peacetags.com

SEATTLE, WA, May 07, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- PeaceTags , based in Seattle, has partnered with several jeweler locations nationwide that will help unveil a special PeaceTag quoting Dr. Maya Angelou, one of America's most admired writers and civil rights activists. Angelou has offered a personalized quote for a custom PeaceTag necklace. PeaceTags' net profits from the sale of these limited-edition pendants, which are being released the week of May 3, 2010, in honor of Mother's Day, will be donated to non-profit partners supporting veterans, their families and peace making causes.

Angelou's quote is simple, yet profound. "Peace is more than, and other than, the absence of war. Peace is the permanent presence of goodwill."

PeaceTags founder, Fredda Golden, created the pendants to be worn in honor of the service of veterans, and as an inspiration for peace and goodwill. The sterling-silver necklaces resemble the I.D. tags traditionally worn by military personnel, and were inspired by the memory of her father who was a veteran.

"Dr. Maya Angelou is a modern-day peacemaker with timeless wisdom and the ability to touch people's lives, and we are blessed to have the opportunity to be inspired by her," said Fredda Golden. "The struggles to achieve peace in the world are far from over, which is so apparent in the eyes of our active-military and veterans. My hope is that PeaceTags will be a daily reminder and motivator to remember them and to be pro-active in promoting goodwill."

The Maya Angelou PeaceTag will be released in select fine jewelry stores around the country, as well as online at www.peacetags.com. (A full list of locations is available on the website.) The original PeaceTag pendant design will be sold for $129.95, and the smaller PeaceBaby pendant design will be sold for $79.95. From May 1st-9th, 10% of sales of the new Maya Angelou PeaceTag, including both web and retail sales, will benefit the Fisher House Foundation. (While supplies last. Further donations will be made to the Fisher House Foundation at year-end.)

The Maya Angelou PeaceTag will join a unique collection of modern-day and historical peace leaders quoted on PeaceTag pendants including Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama and Ghandi, to name a few. PeaceTags have become popular speaker and dignitary gifts presented to luminaries including the Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, musician Dave Matthews and humanitarian Riane Eisler.
