St. Mary Medical Center Selects Pharmacy OneSource to Improve Hospital Performance
Sentri7 to continually identify and notify staff of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) to protect patients and to assist in state-mandated public reporting

/Washington News Articles/ - BELLEVUE, WA, March 20, 2008 -- Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,000 hospitals in the United States, announced today that St. Mary Medical Center has adopted Sentri7, ScheduleRx and UnitStock. St. Mary Medical Center is already subscribed to Quantifi and is using Pharmacy OneSource's suite of products to improve pharmacy performance.

With Sentri7, St. Mary Medical Center staff will not only have a surveillance system continuously analyzing data stored in numerous information systems, a task that is too time-consuming to do manually for all patients, the staff will also have a dashboard displaying at-risk patients, making timely intervention easier to treat and reduce infections for more patients.

"I am most looking forward to the use of Sentri7. The reports generated by Sentri7 will save us countless hours currently needed to build and sort data," said Thomas Burke, Director of Pharmacy at St. Mary Medical Center. "By interfacing with multiple clinical systems, Sentri7 will allow the pharmacy and other clinical departments to generate clinical rules that can assist in compliance with Act 52 and other quality measures in real time."

The hospital will use the Sentri7 software to help comply with the Pennsylvania state mandate requiring hospitals to report their healthcare-associated infection data. Sentri7 can identify patients who are infected with a certain strain of bacteria and match it to their currently-prescribed antibiotic to make sure they are getting the most effective drug and have not acquired a resistant strain like MRSA.

"We are very excited that the St. Mary Medical Center has chosen our suite of products," said Keith Streckenbach, MBA, Chief Strategy Officer of Pharmacy OneSource. "We look forward to working with St. Mary's to help them get the most out of their current IT systems, comply with the Pennsylvania mandate, and ultimately improve patient safety."

UnitStock is a documentation and reporting application that will assist St. Mary Medical Center in meeting The Joint Commission's standards for storage of medications in nursing units, clinics, and operating rooms.

St. Mary Medical Center can easily schedule its pharmacy staff within minutes using ScheduleRx, which features web-based shift changes and vacation requests.
